Equatorial Guinea coach Juan Micha hailed their 4-0 triumph over hosts Cote d'Ivoire as a result of a tactical masterclass and belief his AFCON squad.

This victory not only secured the minnows a spot in the Round of 16 but also dealt a crushing blow to the football-mad West Africa, eliminating the 2015 AFCON winners in the early stages of the tournament.

Micha's men pulled off one of the greatest shocks in AFCON history by dismantling the star-studded Ivorians in Abidjan, topping Group A with an impressive seven points and securing qualification alongside second-placed Nigeria.

The hero of the day, Emilio Nsue, a top contender for the Golden Boot with five goals already, showcased his prowess by scoring a double. Pablo Ganet and Jannick Buyla completed the emphatic victory, marking an all-rounded five-star performance by Equatorial Guinea.

Coach Micha, reflecting on the unexpected triumph, shared insights into their strategy post-match, saying, "We knew the opponent had a lot of pressure on them, which we took into account in our strategy. With our humility, we made the effort to reach as far as possible against the big teams."

While acknowledging the significance of the win, Micha challenged his team to stay focused and grounded for the upcoming challenges, emphasizing their ambition to compete against the best.

"We are working to reach the level of the big guys. We want to believe in ourselves and try to win every time," he stated.
