It's a difficult tournament - Orlando Pirates coach on the Nedbank Cup

Orlando Pirates coach Jose Reveiro says the Nedbank Cup is a challenging tournament after his side recorded a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Venda Football Academy in the Nedbank Cup round of 16 at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.

The Spaniard says he has done some research on the Nedbank Cup and it’s full of surprises with lower division teams making things difficult for the Premier Soccer League clubs.

"It's a difficult tournament, I've been checking and reading about the history in this competition and it's full of surprises with second division teams going into the final. This is proof that we still have a lot of work to do, if we want to be in the last games of the competition," he said.

Edmore Chiramabadare equalized one minute into the second half to cancel Kermit Erasmus's 24th-minute opener. But fan favourite Thembikosi Lorch scored the winning goal in the 113th minute in extra-time to give the Buccaneers a spot in the last eight.

"I'm happy that we managed to come back in extra time, very good contribution today from the players coming from the bench. We were close to penalties, luckily, we managed to score the final goal but I'm happy that we are in the last eight. That' s what counts in the end and we will get the opportunity to compete better than today next time," Reveiro concluded.
