Hildah Magaia relishing Mexico experience with Sinoxolo Cesane

Mazatlán F.C. Femenil attacker Hildah Magaia says playing alongside Banyana Banyana teammate Sinoxolo Cesane has helped her settle well in Mexico.

The duo joined Mazatlán in January, with the likes of Thembi Kgatlana and Jermaine Seoposenwe already plying their trade in the Liga MX with Tigres Femenil and Monterrey respectively.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Magaia shares how her friendship with Cesane has also helped them support each other when they were out injured.

"It has been really amazing man. I'm having a great time with her, we are just taking it one day at a time, and helping each other wherever we can, just being there for each other," said Magaia.

"For example, when she was injured, I was also there for her; and when I was injured, she was there for me, so we are just being sisters away from home.

"Our bond has just become so tight that I feel like we could just go everywhere together, and it's been really great."

Mazatlán are currently 14th on the Liga MX table with only six points after 10 games played, but the breadwinner is eager to help turn the team’s fortunes and finish higher on the log table.

"What I'm hoping to achieve with my team Mazatlan, is getting on a higher position [in the league]. Obviously they haven't been finishing well in the past few years, so my wish right now is that at least we finish in a higher position than in the previous seasons," she added.

The 29-year-old, who scored the third goal in Banyana 3-0 win over Tanzania in their recent Olympic qualifying second leg last month, is also eagerly looking to feature at the Paris Games come July.

"My goals for the year is, one, keep my place in Banyana and, second, help the national team qualify for the Olympics, and also go again and play WAFCON and come out victorious," she said.
