Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies will easily defend their league title - Khabo Zitha

Banyana Banyana legend Khabo Zitha believes Mamelodi Sundowns ladies will easily defend their Hollywoodbets Super League title.

Coach Jerry Tshabalala’s charges have won two of their opening fixtures, first against Royal AM last weekend and their convincing 5 - 3 win to TS Galaxy on Saturday afternoon.

Banyana Ba’ Style are chasing their 5th title in the national women’s league.

Zitha says Sundown’s ability to sign top players from across the country, gives them the upper hand to defend their title.

"According to me I think Mamelodi Sundowns is doing good on both leagues, the male and female. So, with all the support that I see from them receiving from their president I think they still stand a good chance to take the league again. It's promising because we can see they are signing new players from different provinces and yeah, good players. I think I still give it to them," Zitha said.

Youngster Nthabiseng Majiya who is also the 2022 Young Player of the Season, comes as a very handy acquisition for coach Jerry Tshabalala, currently top goal-scorer for the Chloorkop side with 3 goals tied with Boitumelo Rabale.

Majiya scored her debut goal in their first match against a tough Royal AM side and secured a brace at the UJ Stadium against TS Galaxy on Saturday afternoon.

Zitha believes the youngster’s experience with the national team contributes to her current form.

"With Nthabiseng given the fact that she's a youngster in the Banyana team and she got the opportunity to travel with the team and get a little bit of experience and playing for Sundowns, I think it's also a boost for her. I think she's one of the best players and we're still going to see more from her. I also vote for her," she added.
