Girona's impressive La Liga streak continues with victory over Granada

Girona FC showcased their mettle in La Liga with a commanding 4-2 win over Granada, keeping pace alongside Barcelona and Real Madrid.

In a match that witnessed a first-half onslaught, Viktor Tsygankov, Savio, and David Lopez found the net, setting the stage for a thrilling 4-2 victory at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.

The Albanian winger, Myrto Uzuni, managed to pull one back for Granada in the second half, while Lucas Boye added a late consolation goal, causing Girona to break a sweat before sealing the win with Yan Couto's late strike.

This triumph followed Girona's recent victories against Getafe, Sevilla, and Las Palmas, coming after an opening draw against Real Sociedad. With this win, coach Michel's side currently sit in third place in the league, maintaining an unbeaten streak through their first five matches, sharing points with Barcelona and trailing leaders Real Madrid by just two points.

After the match, Girona's coach, Míchel, shared his thoughts with Movistar Plus, stating, "We are very pleased, more so with the performance than the results. The second half needs analysis because we made some significant errors with the ball. Granada stepped up, making things challenging for us."

He added, "The first half was one of the best performances since I've been here. We were sharp, went for the goal, played vertically, and successfully contained their double playmaker. From there, we could grow with the ball."

Michel praised his team's efforts, emphasizing, "It's to our credit more than Granada's fault. The second half was a bit tougher for us."

Acknowledging the competitive nature of football, he noted, "Without that 2-4 goal, we would have surely suffered. This is football. Even when you seem vastly superior, equality prevails in these leagues. As soon as our performance dipped a bit, Granada took control, and we played to their tune."

Looking ahead, Michel remained cautious, saying, "There's a long way to go. I've been saying that dynamics are determined by ten to twelve rounds. We'll wait and see where the team ends up. The feeling is that I'm very pleased, and people can see that we are competitive."
