Gaston Sirino doesnt have a price - Pitso Mosimane

Al Wahda head coach Pitso Mosimane has ruled out interest in buying Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Gaston Sirino, alleging that he doesn’t have a price.

Mosimane was speaking to the media shortly after the handover of a Multipurpose Sports Court named after him to Lofentse Girls High School in Orlando, Soweto yesterday.

Sirino’s future has been the subject of speculation in recent weeks after the Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena also revealed that the Uruguayan has handed in a transfer request.

Mosimane’s club in the United Arab Emirates has also been linked with Sirino, but he downplays this.

"I know my name has been labelled to that but do you think you can buy a player from Sundowns? No, you can't, let's be honest. Don't tell me about Cassius [Mailula], he's 18/19. Talk about Shalulile [Peter], talk about Sirino [Gaston], talk about Themba Zwane. Are they for sale? No, they are not for sale and they don't even have a price," Mosimane said.

"Even Mbappé has a price. Mbappé is 200 million, you know I know. If you want him, pay that 200 million then you have Mbappé but Sirino doesn't have a price."

During Mosimane’s days at Sundowns, Sirino was one of the best players but he is yet to feature this season. The 32year-old recently got his South African ID which makes him eligible to be registered as a local. Mosimane reveals that when he was still at the African Club of the Century Al Ahly, they attempted to buy Sirino, but his club refused to sell.

"And I don't want to go against Sirino. I advised Al Ahly to buy Sirino, we went through the open door, 'We want Sirino, how much?' there's no price. So, how do you buy with no price, there must be a price. They must say 'We want 100 million dollars, we want five, we want 10, we want two' and put it on paper and when it's on paper there's no argument. Then you deposit the money, then you have the player."

Sirino is still tied to Sundowns for the next two years after he renewed his contract in 2020, in the final year of Mosimane at Chloorkop. Mosimane says his name must not be used in vain to justify the sidelining of Sirino at Sundowns. He goes on to say, if he’s now available for the market his club must advise on the number.

"So, it's lies that we want Sirino. I would never advice my team to go for Sirino if they don't want Sirino, they must say they don't want him. They must never use me as an excuse that, 'No he's not playing because he wants to go to Pitso'. No, if you sell Sirino, put the price, I'll speak to my chairman, let's put the dollars. If he has a price, we can buy him."
