Galatasaray-bound Leroy Sane backs Bayern for World Cup title

Former Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sane expects the German giants to hold their own against PSG in the quarterfinals of the FIFA Club World Cup when the two teams clash on Saturday.

Sane made his comments just before he left the Bayern camp to complete his move to Galatasaray in the Turkish Super League having spent five years in the Bundesliga under various coaches.

Bayern thrashed Flamengo 4-2 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, Florida to book their spot in the last eight.

Sane is confident they can beat the current European champions in the hope Bayern can lift the title in the USA.

"I think in football it doesn't matter in the end, you always wanna play against the best team, always one of the best teams. I think this is where the pressure comes, we are all excited about it. No matter who's the opponent, we are looking forward to it and take it step by step," Sane said.

The ex-Manchester City attacker pointed out that PSG were no slouches having also taken Inter Miami apart, beating the hosts 4-0 to quality for the quarterfinals.

"Strong team, I think everyone saw what they did in the last six months especially of the last season. They won the Champions League but yeah, it will be an interesting game I think for everyone to watch and let's see who's the better one and hopefully Bayern," he added.

The move to Galatasaray will be a lucrative one for the 29-year-old Sane, but he admits it was never an easy decision to leave Bayern.

"Of course it's tough, I mean I played five years for this team, it's a long time. It wasn't just two years, at the end of course we always tried our best to achieve the most, it didn't happen but I think the club is still there, achieved already a lot and we'll achieve even more.

“I wish the best to Vinnie [Vincent Kompany] and the team because they deserve it."
