Ethan Brooks poised for Durban City move after Greece spell

Brooks spent last season in Greece with Panserraikos, making 18 appearances, but is now poised to return to South African football after a year abroad.

The midfielder initially left AmaZulu on a surprise free transfer, despite having been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs at the time. 

His return to the PSL will now see him join a Durban City side looking for a boost after a difficult start to the campaign.

City have played two league matches without a win and were also eliminated from the MTN8, with coach Khalil Ben Youssef making it clear that reinforcements are needed.

The 24-year-old has previously played for TS Galaxy, meaning he already understands the demands of the domestic league, while he has also earned Bafana Bafana caps under Hugo Broos.

His international career stalled after he fell out of favour, but coming back to the PSL gives Brooks an opportunity to reignite his career and potentially force his way back into the national-team picture under a new coach.

For Durban City, meanwhile, landing Brooks would represent a significant coup as they look to strengthen their squad and change the trajectory of their season.

The club is understood to be working towards completing the deal, with Brooks now on course for a homecoming to the PSL.

City host KZN rivals Richards Bay on Saturday at Chatsworth Stadium still searching for their first victory of the league campaign.
