Erling Haaland "super happy" after Man City climb to the summit

Erling Haaland has admitted he was "super happy" after his early goal secured a crucial 1-0 win for Manchester City over Burnley, sending the champions back to the top of the Premier League.

Haaland struck after just five minutes, calmly lifting the ball over the goalkeeper to settle what proved to be a tight contest. The result lifted City level on points and goal difference with Arsenal, but ahead on goals scored.

City dominated proceedings and created a series of clear chances. Rayan Cherki came close with a powerful effort that was tipped onto the crossbar, while Haaland himself hit the post in the second half as he chased a second goal.

Despite the missed opportunities, Haaland made it clear that the result mattered far more than the scoreline.

"We had a lot of chances but I'm happy. We won and that's the most important thing," he said. "One-nil is amazing. I'm super happy we got three points. We're top of the league, so be happy."

Pep Guardiola's side finished with 18 attempts, including nine on target, and struck the woodwork twice, underlining their control of the match even if the scoreline remained narrow.

Haaland insisted that City's mentality is focused purely on winning, rather than chasing goals or big scorelines.

"It's all about winning, no matter how," he added. "We try to play our football and just win. That's the mindset you need. Now we focus on the next game."

Late on, Burnley had a chance to snatch a point through Nico O'Reilly, but he failed to convert, confirming their relegation and ensuring City's narrow victory held firm.

For City, it was a performance defined by control, missed chances, and ultimately, efficiency when it mattered most - enough to take them back to the summit as the title race intensifies.
