The domestic tournament will not be the final fixture of the campaign as has traditionally been the case, but Tinkler believes lifting the trophy could secure at least a place in the Confederation Cup, while a top three finish in the league would be an added bonus.
Speaking ahead of their clash with Milford FC, the Sekhukhune mentor outlined what he described as the team’s double mission.
"Definitely, I know my chairman will be extremely happy because that is the target that we have set ourselves for this season, we want to finish in the top three. Why do we want to finish in the top three? We want to be involved in CAF, now if we can get an opportunity to actually get there through the Nedbank that will be highly beneficial," said Tinkler
Tinkler says arriving in the final weeks of the 2025/26 season with one target accomplished would boost them further.
"We have four league matches after the Nedbank Cup final and those four games can determine a lot of things you know. So, what better way to get there than already being guaranteed a spot through the Nedbank Cup and if we do finish third then maybe we allow whoever didn't finish third the opportunity."
Pressed on which of the two targets he wanted most, Tinkler insisted he had no choice.
Tinkler added that he still expected twists and turns in the race for not just the Betway Premiership title but positions below as well.
