Enzo Fernandez joins Man City from Chelsea in record deadline day switch

The 25-year-old had been a target for the Citizens ahead of the 2026/27 after the club sold star midfielder Rodri to Barcelona and Bernardo Silva to Real Madrid.

Fernandez completed his move to Manchester City late on transfer deadline day, signing for a joint-record £125million five-year deal, joining former manager Enzo Maresca at his new club.

He made 170 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 31 goals while providing 30 assists and winning the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup as well as the 2024/25 UEFA Conference League.

"I could not be happier to be here," said Fernandez after his unveiling.

"And I am ready for the challenge of helping City continue winning trophies. This is a club built for success. If you look across the squad, City have quality in every area.

"I want to learn from my new teammates and become a better player. I give absolutely everything and I can promise Manchester City that I will continue now I'm here."

He becomes the first footballer in history to move for above £100m on two separate occasions following his initial £106.8 million switch to the Premier League from Benfica.
