Egypt sweating over injury to Mohamed Salah

Egypt coach Rui Vitoria says he doesn't yet know the full extent of the injury suffered by Mohamed Salah in their Africa Cup of Nations draw with Ghana on Thursday.

The Liverpool striker was substituted towards the end of the first half of the Pharaoh's 2-2 draw with Ghana, with the score still goalless, and was replaced bt Mostafa Fathi.

Mohammed Kudus opened the scoring for the Black Stars in the third minute of first-half stoppage time.

Omar Marmoush levelled with his 69th minute strike before Kudus restored Ghana's lead on 71 minutes, but Mostafa Mohamed bagged a 74th minute equaliser for the share of the spoils.

Speaking after the game, Vitoria said in the Citizen: "We don't know yet what is the problem.

"I hope not a big problem. It is too early to say something.

"Salah is an amazing player, one of the best players in the world, so we want to have this kind of player always with us."

Egypt have now drawn both of their opening AFCON games 2-2, after kicking off their campaign with a stalemate against Mozambique.

They next face Cape Verde in their final group game, on Monday.
