DStv Premiership: Nine-man Chippa hold on for draw against AmaZulu

Chippa United came back from a goal down to draw 1-1 against AmaZulu in their DStv Premiership fixture at Nelson Mandela Bay on Saturday.

Usuthu's Mbongeni Gumede struck first to put Usuthu in the lead 27 minutes into the clash.

Shortly after the half-time break the hosts were reduced to 10 men when Thabiso Lebitso was shown a red card.

Despite their inferior numbers, Chippa drew level in the 78th minute when a mistake from AmaZulu captain and goalkeeper Veli Mothwa gifted them with an equaliser.

In stoppage-time, Elmo Kambindu was also sent off for Chippa to take them down to nine men, but they were able to hold on to salvage a point.

The result leaves Chippa sixth on the table, five points adrift the top three, while AmaZulu are eighth, two points further back.
