Dillon Sheppard on pressure to deliver ahead of the Casric Stars Nedbank Cup clash

Kaizer Chiefs come to tonight’s Nedbank Cup last 16 clash against Motsepe Foundation Championship Casric Stars, fully aware of the pressure that is on the team to advance to the next stage.

Chiefs will host Casric Stars at FNB stadium tonight, in the last game in this round of 16 and they are desperate to proceed, with the main goal of ending their seven-year silverware drought.

Amakhosi’s assistant coach Dillon Sheppard says they understand why there’s pressure for them to deliver.

"Pressure is always going to be there, from a personal point of view, I had pressures of winning the league as a player and also had pressure of fighting relegation. Obviously, we know where we are with regards to being a huge club like Kaizer Chiefs and the pressure that comes with it. After seven seasons of not winning a trophy, you know the demands from the fans," he said.

AmaTuks, Baroka FC, TS Galaxy, FC Cape Town, Richards Bay FC, are just some of the teams from the lower division that have shocked Chiefs in this tournament in the past. Sheppard says they are in the right state of mind to make it to the next round.

"It's very important to approach this game with the right mindset, with the right mentality because when you are going into this game, it's not about divisions, it's quarterfinal birth that's waiting for us. We have to do what is required to win a football match and I think we are in the right space and the right frame of mind to go through to the quarterfinals," he concluded.
