The 27-year-old, who recently signed for Burnley, filed a High Court claim last week connected to an injury sustained in July 2022. Reports suggest the claim could be valued at over 1 million pounds.
Tuanzebe's last season with United was heavily disrupted by injury, causing him to miss 195 days of football. After limited game time, he spent the second half of the season on loan at Stoke City, making just five appearances before departing the club in the summer of 2023.
Having come through United's academy from the age of eight, Tuanzebe made 37 senior appearances for the club and captained the side at every youth level. His final game for United was the 2021 Europa League final, where he scored in the shootout during the dramatic 11-10 loss to Villarreal.
The former England Under-21 international - now representing DR Congo - also had loan spells at Aston Villa and Napoli during his United career.
Neither Tuanzebe's legal team, Simons Muirhead Burton, nor Manchester United have commented on the claim.
This case sheds light on the ongoing challenges players face regarding injury management and the responsibilities of clubs to safeguard their athletes' health.
