Confirmed: Richards Bay notify coaches of new direction

Richards Bay FC have confirmed the departure of their head coach Vasili Manousakis and assistants Pitso Dladla and Ronnie Gabriel, with the hunt for a new coach firmly underway.

The Natal Rich Boyz started life in the DStv Premiership like a house on fire in the past season, as they wrapped the first half of the campaign in the top three after earning promotion from the Motsepe Foundation Championship in 2021/22.

However, the second half of the season after the 2022 FIFA World Cup proved too difficult a task for the topflight newcomers as they struggled for form, resulting in them finishing the season battling for survival.

While reports had earlier linked with the club with former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer, who has since joined Moroccan outfit Raja Club Athletic, SABC Sport can confirm that Manousakis, Dladla, and Gabriel have been relieved of their duties.

"We have released the coaches, they have been told. We are looking for a new technical team. We only have a goalkeeper coach," Dlamini told the public broadcaster.

"We have identified two coaches, our first option is currently with a club, and the second one has been offered to us, but nothing has been agreed on."

Manousakis had earlier confirmed to SABC Sport that his contract with the KwaZulu-Natal side was due to run up at the end of this month, while it is unclear when Dladla and Gabriel's deals were set to expire.

After missing out on Zinnbauer, it is understood the club are looking to finalise their new coach in the coming days before they begin pre-season for the 2023/24 season.
