Christian Norgaard targets 'bigger role' after Everton move from Arsenal

The Denmark international midfielder has joined the Merseyside club for an undisclosed fee and will remain at Everton until the end of June 2028.

Norgaard arrives with plenty of experience, having won the Premier League with Arsenal and earned 41 international caps for Denmark. He is Everton's fourth signing of the summer transfer window following the arrivals of Merlin Röhl, Tyrique George and Hayden Hackney.

The 31-year-old said the chance to play a more important role and the club's long-term plans convinced him to make the move.

"There were many factors to it. I felt I needed a change and to play a bigger football role," Norgaard said.

"When I spoke to David Moyes and others at the club involved in the transfer, I heard about the whole project and I was very intrigued. Coming here just makes that feeling even stronger."

Norgaard also spoke about Everton's supporters, saying the club's passionate fanbase played a big part in his decision.

"My past experience of playing against Everton, the whole atmosphere and the fans, is something I really look forward to experiencing as an Everton player," he said.

"It is a big honour for me, and I will do my very best, not only on matchdays but every day, because I know how much this club means to the people who support it. My mindset is to represent Everton in the best possible way."

The Danish midfielder also praised the atmosphere at Everton's new stadium, saying it had kept the spirit that made Goodison Park one of the Premier League's most famous grounds.

"I can't wait to experience the atmosphere as an Everton player," Norgaard said.

"Goodison was amazing. I remember the ground was literally shaking. Then we came to the new stadium last year and I was surprised because clubs often lose that intimacy when they move.

"I was overwhelmed by how good the atmosphere was. You can see the soul from Goodison has been brought to the new stadium."

Everton face VfB Stuttgart next in a pre-season club friendly on Saturday at MHP Arena in Stuttgart, Germany.
