Cape Town Spurs denied win after late Amazulu equaliser

Cape Town Spurs were denied a second league win of the season after Amazulu found a late equaliser to force a 1-1 draw a the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

Spurs had taken the lead in first-half stoppage time when Luke Baartman found the back of the net with a header but Celimpilo Ngema scored with 10 minutes remaining.

Spurs came into the contest as massive underdogs as they sit rock-bottom of the standings having only won once in 14 previous matches this campaign.

The visitors though gave a good account of themselves in the opening exchanges and were good value for their half-time lead as teenager Baartman headed home from a corner.

Usuthu coach Pablo Franco Martin responded with a triple substitution at the break to get back in the game and they certainly peppered the Spurs defence.

One of those subs, Ngema, eventually found the back of the net with a good finish after getting on the end of a cut-back into the box.

The hosts then laid siege on the Spurs goal in search of the winner but resolute defening from the Cape outfit ensured they left with a point.
