Bruno Fernandes breaks Premier League assist record as Man Utd end season with big win

Bruno Fernandes picked up his 21st assist of the season and played a starring role as Manchester United beat Brighton 3-0 on the final day of the Premier League.

Fernandes went into the match level with the mark shared by Thierry Henry and Kevin de Bruyne at 20 assists.

It took just 33 minutes of play for him to grab another one and go to the top of the list of most assists in a Premier League season.

He provided a lovely cross into the box and Patrick Dorgu got up above the defence to head United into a 1-0 lead.

The Red Devils doubled their advantage 11 minutes later with Amad Diallo setting up Bryan Mbeumo on the stroke of half-time.

The result was all but decided three minutes after the break when Dorgu and Fernandes swapped roles, with the former providing the assist for the Portuguese maestro to get his name on the scoresheet.

Overall, the match was far closer than the scoreline might suggest, with Brighton enjoying slightly more possession and producing more chances than the visitors.

However, many of their shots were from long range and not particularly threatening, while United made the most of their chances with four of their 11 shots being classed as big chances.

Even though Brighton had 13 shots on goal, Senne Lammens only had to make two saves all game.

For his efforts, Fernandes was also awarded the Player of the Match award.
