Breaking: Swallows sign striker Dumisani Zuma

Moroka Swallows have signed striker Dumisani Zuma, which is yet another player reuniting with coach Steve Komphela.

SABC Sport has it on good authority that the Dube Birds, who earlier on Wednesday announced DRIP as a technical sponsor, are now set to add the former Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu forward to their books on a two-year deal.

Zuma is a free agent after parting ways with Usuthu just after one season and is returning to Gauteng to work alongside a coach that is expected to be naturing and restart his career again.

Komphela was Chiefs mentor when the former youth international moved to Naturena in 2017 with a lot expected from a player who was then a bright prospect having come from the Bloemfontein Celtic academy. It’s no secret Zuma has had trouble with his discipline, with Chiefs suspending him before a decision was taken to go separate ways.

He impressed at Usuthu with 23 matches, though he did not contribute with goals due to the team battling and fighting relegation during the 2022/23 season.

Swallows have been busy in the market since Komphela arrived from Mamelodi Sundowns – the Dube Birds have announced right back Keenan Phillips, midfielders Andile Jali and Lantshene Phalane and now Zuma.

They are also still in talks with Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa, who finished top goal scorer at the COSAFA Cup while on Bafana Bafana duty.
