Bradley Barcola fit as Liverpool lose Dominik Szoboszlai for Brighton clash

Bradley Barcola is available for Liverpool's Premier League meeting with Brighton at Anfield on Sunday, but Dominik Szoboszlai has been ruled out as the Reds continue a demanding run of fixtures.

Head coach Andoni Iraola confirmed Barcola had returned to full training on Friday after missing Thursday's session.

"Bradley has trained today normally. He's fine with no problem," Iraola said. "It was just a matter of sometimes you have to deal with the loads and we consider sometimes they have to stay inside. But he's fine."

Szoboszlai and Victor Munoz both picked up injuries during last weekend's victory over Brentford and missed the midweek win against Villarreal.

Szoboszlai will not feature against Brighton but is making progress towards a return, having resumed individual training outdoors.

"He's in a good place. Dom is already training outside alone and is going to train with the group, but he's not ready for this one," Iraola said.

Munoz faces a late fitness test after sustaining a knock against Brentford. Although he completed that match, he has continued to experience pain.

"I don't know if he's going to arrive. I think it's going to be difficult but I really don't know," Iraola added.

Liverpool will welcome Ryan Gravenberch back after the midfielder served a one-match Premier League suspension. However, Conor Bradley, Hugo Ekitike and Giovanni Leoni remain sidelined with longer-term injuries.

Sunday's match is the fifth of nine games Liverpool must play across 28 days in three competitions. Iraola acknowledged the challenge of keeping his squad fresh.

"We are playing basically every three or four days," he said. "Sometimes the players are tired or there is more risk involved, and we are deciding to give more rest or to use more fresh legs."

Iraola expects to continue rotating his team for upcoming matches against Brighton, Chelsea and Arsenal, and is pleased with how his players have responded to the changes.

Brighton could receive a boost with Yankuba Minteh and Mats Wieffer nearing returns from injury. Both were due to train with the squad on Saturday before head coach Fabian Hurzeler decided whether they could feature at Anfield.

"There is an option. Especially with Minteh, there might be an option. But definitely next week," Hurzeler said.

"If they are not available for this game, then I am quite convinced we will see them back in the squad next week for the Manchester City games."

Pascal Struijk will also be assessed after missing Brighton's last two matches. Hurzeler said the injury was not serious but warned against rushing the defender back too soon.

"It is something that can get bigger if you risk it too early," he said. "We have so many games and we have to take care of the health of the players. We have to make wise decisions."

Diego Gomez and Maxim De Cuyper were rested for Thursday's match against FK Jablonec, while goalkeeper Jason Steele missed the game in the Czech Republic through illness.

Brighton are also expected to be without Femi Azeez, Evan Ferguson, Kaoru Mitoma, Stefanos Tzimas and Zadok Yohanna for the trip to Anfield.
