Black Princesses focused ahead of U20 World Cup qualifier against Basetsana

Ghana U20 women’s national team coach Charles Sampson says they know how to handle pressure as they prepare to face Basetsana in the FIFA U20 World Cup in Mbombela.

The Black Princesses played a 2-2 draw in Accra against Basetsana in the first leg.

Sampson says since their main focus is to play on the world stage so he understands the demand that comes with it.

"We are playing to qualify for the World Cup. Unfortunately, we slipped a little bit in the last game. We are ready – the girls are ready – to redeem themselves, and for us to win tomorrow and qualify for the next stage," said Sampson

The former Ghanaian international was appointed head coach of the Black Princesses in December 2024, having also served as an assistant for the Black Queens.

He says it’s crucial for them to convert their chances this afternoon.

He adds that his only goal is to help the team qualify for the World Cup.

"After tomorrow's game, I hope that we have the ticket to play the next qualifiers – that's our goal. So for now, I don't have any other goal than that so that's where all the focus is."
