Both teams struggled to create clear chances in a tight first half at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Wednesday evening, with Asanele Velebayi registering the first shot on target in the 21st minute after good work from Mfundo Vilakazi.
Amakhosi searched for the opener but could only shoot wide in four attempts before half time with Chippa making just one shot off target in additional time when Asanele Bonani missed the target by inches.
The teams came out looking to gain the advantage in the second half with Nkosingiphile Ngcobo's effort saved by Dumisani Msibi in the 46th minute before Chilli Boys substitute Boy Madingwane put his long-range attempt wide shortly after.
However, despite numerous attempts from mostly Chiefs, neither side could find an elusive winner and had to settle for a draw.
The result leaves Amakhosi in fifth place behind AmaZulu, while Chippa United remain at the bottom of the table, with Chiefs still to play their rearranged fixture against TS Galaxy on Sunday, December 7, before the break for the 2025 African Cup of Nations in Morocco.
