Benjamin Sesko's ex-coach believes Man Utd man has similar ceiling to Erling Haaland

Benjamin Sesko's ex-coach believes Man Utd man has similar ceiling to Erling Haaland

Rene Aufhaser, a former coach of both Erling Haaland and Benjamin Sesko, predicts Manchester United's new forward will match Manchester City's prolific striker.

Aufhaser, who worked with the pair at RB Salzburg, spoke ahead of this weekend's Manchester derby, suggesting that Sesko's path could mirror Haaland's rise despite a slow start at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old Slovenian joined United from RB Leipzig in the summer but has struggled for opportunities under manager Ruben Amorim, making just one start so far. That appearance came in a disappointing League Cup second-round exit to Grimsby Town.

Yet Aufhaser, drawing on his experience of seeing both players emerge as raw talents in Austria, remains convinced of Sesko's ceiling.

While Haaland continues to dominate defences in the Premier League, Sesko is still finding his feet. But Aufhaser believes patience will pay off.

"Erling Haaland, I will rate him 10 out of 10. I think Erling is [an] outstanding striker and Benji, I think at the moment maybe he's a nine, nine-and-a-half out of 10. And he has potential," Aufhaser told Sky Sports.

"He will develop in the next one and two years, I'm sure. Erling reached his mark after his transfer from Dortmund to Man City and we will see.

"I am quite sure Benji will reach this mark after one or two years. But, of course, Erling is the top. He has 10 out of 10 from me."
