The Brazilian-born forward, who has been part of the Bayern amateur squad since the winter break, has already made an immediate impact by starting in both of the team's first matches this year.
The move had been hinted at in recent reports, and now the club has confirmed its commitment. Jochen Sauer, Bayern's Director of Youth Development, praised the teenager's progression:
"Maycon joined our U17s at the Bayern Campus just over a year ago through our international youth programs. After strong performances for the U19s in the first half of the season, he was promoted to our reserves during the winter break. He played a key role in attack in both victories against Unterhaching and Hankofen-Hailing. We're delighted that he will take his next steps with us and look forward to his continued development."
Cardozo's journey to Munich is unique. Born in Brazil on 10 October 2008, he grew up in Thailand, where his father played professionally. At the age of ten, he joined the STB Sports Thai Bavaria Academy, a partner of FC Bayern, before advancing to the Global Academy international U18 team at the Bayern Campus in early 2024. By June of that year, he had earned a place in the U19 World Squad project.
In 2025, Cardozo officially joined Bayern's U17 squad and quickly progressed to the U19s that summer. Across 17 appearances for the U19s, he scored five goals and provided five assists, catching the attention of the club's senior development staff. His promotion to Bayern II this year was marked by immediate involvement in the starting eleven, contributing to wins against Unterhaching (1-0) and Hankofen-Hailing (2-0).
With this contract extension, Bayern Munich has underlined its commitment to nurturing Cardozo's potential and integrating him into the club's long-term plans on campus.
