Bayern Munich's Jamal Musiala refuses to blame Gianluigi Donnarumma for horror injury

Jamal Musiala has broken his silence after suffering a serious injury in Bayern Munich's Club World Cup quarter-final defeat, insisting there is "no one to blame" for the incident involving PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Musiala was challenging PSG defender Willian Pacho when Donnarumma dived to grab the ball in the penalty area.

There was an awkward collision and Musiala was left in agony after his leg was caught under the Italian's body, with his ankle horribly bent out of shape.

Since then, it has been confirmed that the  21-year-old sustained a fractured left fibula and has already undergone surgery. Bayern confirmed Musiala has begun his rehabilitation, though he's expected to miss several months - potentially sidelined until early 2026.

While Bayern figures, including sporting director Max Eberl and captain Manuel Neuer, criticized Donnarumma for the challenge, Musiala has taken a more measured stance.

"The surgery went really well. I'm in good care," Musiala said in a video posted to Instagram. "I wanted to say there's no one to blame for this. Situations like this happen."

He added: "Now I'm just going to use the next period to build up my strength and positivity again. I'm looking forward to seeing you guys soon."

Donnarumma, who received backing from PSG coach Luis Enrique and Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois, is preparing for Wednesday's semi-final against Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Musiala begins his long road to recovery with a message that underlines his maturity as much as his talent.
