Banyana Banyana teenage sensation Adrielle Mibe settles in the USA

Banyana Banyana rising star Adrielle Mibe feels excited about her future in football as she begins a new journey in Arizona, USA.

Mibe was recently unveiled as the new signing at the University of Arizona, where she will compete in the NCAA league.

Speaking exclusively to SABC Sport, Mibe says she is grateful that she can continue to pursue her studies while growing her football profile abroad.

"I am very happy to be playing for an overseas team-it is something I have always dreamed about.

"The people here are very welcoming, and I look forward to achieving my goals, on the academic field as well as on the field of play," said the former UJ Ladies forward.

Mibe’s impressive resume includes back-to-back Engen Knockout Challenge titles with the UJ Under-20 team in 2022 and 2023, along with a runner-up finish in 2024.

She reflects on her outstanding journey with UJ Ladies.

"My journey with UJ was really an enriching experience, and it will always be my home. They gave me the platform to make a name for myself in football, so I am very grateful."

The 18-year-old  gained valuable international experience, after featuring in the Women’s COSAFA Cup Under-17 in 2023 and the COSAFA Under-20 in 2024 - which saw her earn her first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations call-up this year.

Mibe shares her ambitions for the 2026 WAFCON, which will serve as a World Cup qualifier.

"I intend to make the final squad, and then from there, I hope I can help the National Team recapture the WAFCON title."
