Atalanta's Ademola Lookman urges teammates for Champions League push

Ademola Lookman, the forward of the Super Eagles, is rallying his Atalanta squad to maintain their stellar form, aiming to clinch a Champions League spot.

Continuing his scintillating displays from the previous season, Lookman, 26, has been instrumental for Atalanta, tallying an impressive eleven goals and seven assists across 37 appearances in all competitions.

Currently positioned sixth in Serie A with 57 points from 33 matches, Atalanta trail Roma by a mere two points, albeit having played one game less.

With the revamped UEFA Champions League format set to kick in next season, Serie A will now see five teams securing qualification spots, potentially granting Roma a berth if the standings hold.

However, Atalanta hold their fate in their hands. A triumph in their remaining five fixtures would catapult them past Roma into fifth place, securing that coveted Champions League ticket.

Following their recent 2-0 victory over Empoli, Lookman emphasized the importance of maintaining their winning streak to secure Champions League qualification.

"The win against Empoli was crucial as we aim for the Champions League. With Italian Cup and Europa League commitments, securing victory today was paramount," Lookman remarked, as per Napoli Magazine.

Acknowledging Roma's strength, Lookman expressed confidence in Atalanta's abilities, affirming their readiness to tackle each upcoming challenge head-on.

"Roma is formidable, but so are we. We understand the difficulty of every match, yet we are prepared to pursue victory in each one," Lookman affirmed.

Having missed out on Champions League qualification in the past two seasons, Atalanta are determined to rewrite that narrative this season, eyeing a return to Europe's premier club competition.
