Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey fit to face Real Madrid

Arsenal have been handed a boost with the news that influential midfielder Thomas Partey will be fit for the Premier League club's Champions League second leg with Real Madrid on Wednesday.

The Gunners sensationally lead 3-0 from the first leg following two clinical Declan Rice free-kicks and a strike from Mikel Merino.

The Ghana international was injured in the 1-1 league draw with Brentford at the weekend with his side leading at the time and replaced by Jurrien Timber.

But speaking ahead of the Champions League tie, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirmed that Partey traveled with the team to Spain and is available to play.

He said in the Standard: "Yeah, he's [Partey] available. He had a little niggle during the game [against Brentford], thatâ™s why he had to come off. But he felt good after the last few days, so he's fine."

Jorginho is, however, not available for the game against Real, with the player having sustained a rib injury, with Arteta adding: "Jorgi unfortunately is not here. After the incident at the weekend, he hasn't recovered so our thoughts are with him."
