Arne Slot 'incredibly proud' of Liverpool after claiming Premier League title

Arne Slot says he is 'incredibly proud' after guiding Liverpool to their 20th English top-flight title, matching Manchester United's record, after a commanding 5-1 victory over Tottenham at Anfield.

The emphatic win, sealed with four games to spare, sparked wild celebrations among the Reds' faithful and marked a triumphant first season for the Dutch manager, who succeeded Jurgen Klopp last summer.

Liverpool have been relentless under Slot, losing just two of their 34 Premier League matches.

Goals from Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, and an own goal by Destiny Udogie overwhelmed Tottenham, ending Manchester City's four-year reign as champions. The Reds' dominance has left Arsenal and City struggling to keep pace for months.

"I'm incredibly proud, not just of the players but of the staff and sporting directors," Slot said. "To win it here, in front of these fans, makes it so special. Five years ago, they won the league without supporters in the stands. You could feel how much this meant to them today."

Despite Tottenham's early lead through Dominic Solanke, Slot remained unfazed. "It wasn't ideal, but these players always find a way to come back," he said. "They've done it all season."

The 46-year-old, who became the first Dutch manager to win the Premier League, credited the foundation laid by Klopp. "The culture, work rate, and quality Jurgen left behind were outstanding," he said. "We started strongly, and City's difficult spell helped, which was unusual for them."

Slot had vowed not to "go crazy" when the title was secured, though he couldn't resist a brief dance in front of the Kop, drawing smiles from his squad.

Reflecting on expectations, he added, "At the start, people thought Champions League qualification would be enough, but these players are better than that. They've shown it all season."

Recent posts on X from Liverpool's official account hailed the "relentless" performance, while Salah shared, "This is for our fans who've waited for this moment." Slot, in a post-match X update, praised the Anfield atmosphere, saying, "The energy from the stands pushed us to finish the job in style."

The Reds' title charge has been a masterclass, with Slot becoming only the fifth manager to win the Premier League in his debut English season. As Liverpool prepare for their remaining fixtures, their focus now shifts to cementing their legacy as one of England's greatest sides.
