Antony bids emotional farewell to Real Betis ahead of Man Utd return

Brazilian winger Antony has brought his loan spell at Real Betis to a close, paying tribute to the Spanish club in an emotional message as he prepares to return to Manchester United.

The 24-year-old joined Betis in January and made a significant impact during his six-month stay, scoring nine goals in 26 appearances across all competitions. His final outing came in Wednesday's UEFA Conference League final, where Betis were defeated 4-1 by Chelsea.

In a farewell message posted on Instagram, Antony reflected on what he described as one of the most meaningful periods of his career.

"Today is the day to thank one of the most beautiful chapters of my life," he wrote. "From the first step into this club, I felt something different. It was like coming home, like finding a piece of myself that I thought I had lost. With you, I started to smile again.

"Thank you for welcoming me as one of your own. Thank you for giving me back the joy of playing football. And thank you for reminding me why I fell in love with the game. My home, my people, thank you so much."

Antony's resurgence in Spain comes amid growing uncertainty over his long-term future at the Red Devils. According to ESPN, the club are reportedly open to offloading the former Ajax star, along with fellow wide players Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho. Rising talent Alejandro Garnacho has also been linked with a possible departure as United prepare for a squad overhaul under incoming management.

Signed by United in 2022 for a reported 85 million pounds, Antony has struggled to consistently meet expectations in the Premier League. His successful loan stint in La Liga may now open the door for a permanent move elsewhere, should United decide to cash in.

The forward returns to Old Trafford with his future still unresolved, but with renewed confidence and form that could shape the next phase of his career - whether in Manchester or beyond.
