Antonin Kinsky rewarded with new long-term Tottenham contract after turnaround

Antonin Kinsky's remarkable turnaround at Tottenham has been rewarded with a new long-term contract, with the goalkeeper now in line to become the club's first-choice keeper next season.

Spurs confirmed the 23-year-old has signed an improved five-year deal, with reports suggesting the agreement includes an option for an additional year.

The new contract caps a dramatic first full season in north London for the Czech goalkeeper, who endured one of the lowest moments of his career in March when he was substituted after just 17 minutes of Tottenham's 5-2 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid. Kinsky had made two costly errors and was replaced by Guglielmo Vicario, prompting former goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel to claim the incident had "completely destroyed his career".

Instead, Kinsky recovered impressively after Roberto De Zerbi's arrival as manager. He started Tottenham's final seven Premier League matches, helping the club avoid relegation and keeping a crucial clean sheet against Everton on the final day of the campaign.

"I'm so happy and I can feel the trust from the club," Kinsky said. "When I joined 18 months ago, my expectations were to fight for my place in the team and to wear this shirt every week.

"It's been a real journey to get here and a nice story already, and I'm looking forward to what lies ahead over the next months and years.

"Everyone around the club feels that we can have a successful season and I want to contribute to that. We want to give the fans what they want and what this club deserves."

Kinsky joined Tottenham from Slavia Prague for around £12.5 million in January 2025 on a deal that initially ran until 2031. His performances under De Zerbi have strengthened his standing at the club, especially with Vicario being linked with a return to Italy and Inter Milan.

The arrival of 37-year-old Martin Dubravka on a free transfer from Burnley is expected to provide competition and experience, but Kinsky appears well placed to begin the new campaign as Spurs' No 1.

"Toni was outstanding over the final seven games of the season and a key part of what we achieved in that period," De Zerbi said.

"He has earned this new contract, not only with his performances but also his professionalism and desire to improve.

"We have huge belief in what Toni can become. He is still young, has enormous potential and I know that Spurs is the perfect place for him to continue to develop into one of the best goalkeepers in Europe."
