Ange Postecoglou hopes Brennan Johnson's goal boosts his confidence

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is optimistic about Brennan Johnson's goal-scoring abilities, after a shaky start to his career at the club.

Johnson, who made the switch from Nottingham Forest during the summer transfer window, scored his maiden goal for Tottenham in their recent Premier League encounter against Wolves. The 22-year-old put Spurs ahead 1-0 at Molineux.

However, Postecoglou's side faced a late setback, succumbing to injury time goals from Pablo Sarabia and Mario Lemina, resulting in a 2-1 defeat.

Recognising Johnson's potential, Postecoglou stated that the young player "definitely" has goals in him. However, the manager also acknowledged that Johnson has endured a disrupted start to his career at Tottenham.

The 22-year-old forward faced a setback when side-lined for nearly a month due to a thigh injury sustained in a match against Arsenal at the end of September.

Despite the challenges, Johnson returned to action towards the end of October and has since started in Spurs' last two matches against Chelsea and Wolves.

"I hope so. It's not the only measure. He's one of the ones I think could have been a bit more positive for us in the first half (against Wolves) but again Brennan's not really had a clear run at it," said Postecoglou.

"He's had a real disrupted beginning to his career for us and I think the more we can get him into these situations there's definitely goals in him.

"There's more of a goal threat in him but again you could see at the end he ran out of legs because he hasn't played a lot of football since the start of the year."
