AmaZulu confirm major clearout

AmaZulu have confirmed a mass exodus including both playing and coaching personnel as they prepare for a new dawn under coach Brandon Truter.

Truter has been appointed as the AmaZulu head coach on a two-year deal after initially taking charge on a short-term basis upon succeeding Benni McCarthy, who was sacked at the end of March.

McCarthy's technical team comprising of assistant coaches Vasili Manousakis, Siyabonga Nomvethe and goalkeeper coach Moeneeb Josephs stayed on to see out the season.

However, Manousakis and Josephs have now both departed Usuthu, leaving Truter and Nomvethe to take the club forward into the 2022/23 season.

Joining the coaches through the exit door are some high-profile players too, including former Orlando Pirates stars Luvuyo Memela, Xola Mlambo, Thabo Qalinge and Siphelele Mthembu, as well as ex-Kaizer Chiefs stars Tshepo Masilela, Kgotso Moleko, Hendrick Ekstein and Philani Zulu.

Others departing are goalkeeper Neil Boshoff, Limbikani Mzava, Abraham Majok, Andre de Jong and, as earlier reported by SABC Sport, Augustine Mulenga.

Meanwhile, midfielder Thapelo Xoki is set to join Orlando Pirates and Siyanda Sithebe has refused to sign a contract extension, according to the statement released by the club on Thursday.

AmaZulu have also advised that no less than eight new arrivals will be confirmed in the coming days, with Augustine Kwem understood to be among these.
