Alphonso Davies injury blow for Bundesliga-chasing Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich have dealt a blow with an injury to recently recovered defender Alphonso Davies.

The 25-year-old Ghana-born Canadian international left-back only recently returned to competitive action after a long-term knee injury.

He lasted 50 minutes of the 3-2 Bundesliga win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday before being replacedby Hiroki Ito.

Bayern manager Vincent Kompany says he's hopeful the injury isn't too bad, with Davies expected to be sidelined for up to a month.

A club statement read: "Alphonso Davies suffered a torn muscle fibre in his right hamstring in the 3-2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. This was confirmed by FC Bayern's medical unit.

"The defender will be sidelined for the time being."

Speaking after their win, Kompany added: "It doesn't look so bad. I don't know if it will be two or four weeks. My gut feeling is that it won't take that long.

The win over Frankfurt saw Bayern end the weekend on 60 points from 23 games, on top of the league standing, ahead of second-placed Borussia Dortmund by eight points - who they play next Saturday,
