Alexander Isak 'hits his stride' as Bradley Barcola sparks Liverpool excitement

The Sweden striker has scored three goals in his first four appearances of the 2026-27 campaign, including two superb finishes in last weekend's 2-0 Premier League victory at Ipswich Town.

After an injury-hit first season at Anfield, Isak has started every match so far and played 332 minutes. He is determined to build on that consistency.

"I'm feeling good with the pre-season and the start of the season as well, scoring a couple of goals," Isak said ahead of Saturday's meeting with Fulham. "It's just about keeping this rhythm."

Isak was particularly pleased with his performance at Ipswich, where his finishing helped Liverpool secure three points.

"That is how I want to play and that's how I want to score goals," he said. "I was certainly happy with that. But as I said, it's early days and I've got to keep going."

The 26-year-old endured a difficult 2025-26 campaign after suffering an ankle injury, including a fractured fibula, while scoring against Tottenham Hotspur in December.

He was able to make only 13 starts for Liverpool last season but believes the experience has made him stronger.

"It has been challenging of course, with a lot of injuries especially," Isak said. "But there have been some beautiful moments as well, good learning moments.

"I take all of that as stuff to help me get better and get stronger, not looking back too much and just focusing on what's ahead."

Isak has also been encouraged by the continued support from Liverpool supporters, particularly during the difficult periods of his first season.

"It means a lot," he said. "I was really excited about coming here and being a part of that relationship between the club and the players and the fans.

"You can really feel that. It's really something valuable. It's brilliant support all the time, even during difficult times for the team. They have been brilliant so far as long as I've been here."

Liverpool have also added further attacking quality with the arrival of Bradley Barcola from Paris Saint-Germain.

Barcola made his first start alongside Isak on Wednesday night and the striker is excited about what the new partnership could produce.

"Of course, it's a big signing for us and he's a great player that we all know very well from what he's done previously," Isak said.

"I'm sure he's going to be someone to help make us much better as a team. So, we're really excited."
