Alaves secure signing of promising Moroccan teen Youssef Lekhedim from Real Madrid

Promising Moroccan teenager Youssef Lekhedim has officially parted ways with Real Madrid to join La Liga rivals Deportivo Alaves on a four-year contract.

The 19-year-old left-back's departure was confirmed by the Spanish giants, with Morocco World News reporting that Real Madrid will retain 50% of the player's rights and hold a buy-back clause valid for the next two seasons.

"Real Madrid C.F. and Deportivo Alaves have reached an agreement for the transfer of our player @yuusiii3," read a statement from Los Blancos on Instagram.

Lekhedim, who joined Madrid's academy from Getafe in 2017, enjoyed an impressive campaign last season, featuring in 49 matches across all competitions.

He scored twice and contributed six assists while earning several call-ups to the senior squad under former coach Carlo Ancelotti. Though he didn't feature, he also travelled with the team to the FIFA Club World Cup under Xabi Alonso.

Reflecting on his departure, Lekhedim shared an emotional farewell message on social media.

"Today, I have to write a few words I never thought I would have to write. After so many years, the time has come to close an unforgettable chapter in my life," he wrote.

The youngster's arrival is expected to strengthen Alaves' defensive ranks, as the club continues to focus on building a competitive and youthful squad for the demands of top-flight Spanish football.
