Agent reveals Sipho Mbule's preference following Orlando Pirates exit

Midfielder Sipho Mbule is keen to continue his career outside South Africa following his departure from Orlando Pirates, according to his agent Mike Makaab.

The Buccaneers recently opted against activating the option to extend Mbule's stay at the club beyond a single season. The former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder enjoyed a promising start to life at Pirates and was rewarded with a Bafana Bafana recall by coach Hugo Broos, earning a place in the squad for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco earlier this year.

However, a lack of regular game time during the latter stages of the campaign saw Mbule fall out of favour at club level and ultimately miss out on selection for the FIFA World Cup in the Americas.

Speaking to SABC Sport, Makaab revealed that Pirates had not provided specific reasons for their decision not to retain the midfielder but insisted the player remains focused on the next chapter of his career.

"We are looking at opportunities for Sipho. It's still early days, but there has been a lot of interest. He is open to considering a move and would like to further his career outside the borders of South Africa," Makaab explained.

Mbule's career has been a rollercoaster in recent years.

After emerging as one of the Premier Soccer League’s brightest talents at SuperSport United, he secured a high-profile move to Sundowns in 2022.

However, off-field challenges disrupted his progress, while a subsequent loan spell at Sekhukhune United was cut short.

Pirates offered the midfielder a chance to revive his career last season and although there were encouraging signs, the two parties have now gone their separate ways. Makaab remains confident that Mbule can bounce back, with an overseas move currently his preferred option.
