AFCON: Angola, Zimbabwe remain in contention after stalemate in Marrakech

Angola and Zimbabwe remain without a victory in the Africa Cup of Nations after playing to 1-1 draw in their Group B clash in Marrakech on Friday.

Both teams lost their opening encounters of the continental tournament with Angola going down to South Africa and Zimbabwe losing to Egypt.

Gelson Dala gave the Angolans the lead in the 24th minute but Knowledge Musona found the equaliser in first half stoppage-time.

The match started at high intensity with Agola doing the early, and they were rewarded when Dala got on the end of Carneiro's precise pass.

The 35-year-old Musona though showed all his experience when he brought a long ball into his stride before beating goalkeeper Hugo Marques.

The Palancas Negras went close to regaining the lead but Zimbabwe shot-stopper Washington Arubi denied midfielder Fredy.

The Angolans were making much of the running trying to find a winner as they pinned Zimbabwe back going into the final 10 minutes.

The Warriors held out though as Arubi again came up trumps to earn his team a point from the contest.

Both sides remain in contention to reach the next stage but will need a positive result in their final group game.
