Abdeslam Ouaddou wary of Orlando Pirates squad management

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has underlined the importance of preserving team chemistry as the club prepares for a demanding schedule ahead.

The Moroccan tactician had depth at his disposal during their CAF Champions League preliminary round clash against Lesotho’s Lioli FC on Saturday, where the Buccaneers cruised to a 3-0 victory.

Ouaddou, who previously faced questions over his selection policy and the sidelining of key players, said he always believed everyone would have a role to play.

"It's so crucial to manage so many players, especially when you play many competition. I agree with you that it's very important to keep the harmony," said Ouaddou.

"Sometimes you can have talented players, good players, but you need some competencies and qualities – human being qualities – to manage the players, and for them to keep trusting you and giving you everything in the games.

"So that's what we are trying to do with my staff, with the club as well, we are together."

In spite of the complexities, the Pirates coach added that it was comforting knowing he’s got options.

"We could see that we brought some changes, but every time the guys coming into the team are giving everything, and I think it's good news for us – it can give us hope for the future," he added.

"Because the season is very long and you can have some injuries, or you can have suspensions and fatigue, and it is in that moment that you need your soldiers.

"I can say that I'm very proud of them, and I'm a very coach because since the beginning of the season, whenever I call my players, even if they're on the bench, all of them bring something, so it's good for us."
