Kolisi, Du Toit and Wiese to make Test history against All Blacks

The Boks will look to take a lead in Rugby's Greatest Rivalry when they take on the All Blacks at FNB Stadium on Saturday evening, with the series currently tied at 1-all. 

Speaking at the captains’ press conference on Friday, Kolisi said what has made the trio work well is accepting their roles and learning what they’re all good at. 

"It was me and Duane and Pete before and we all have different roles and we are used to playing with one another for a while and now myself, Pete and Jasper have also kind of adapted to the style,” Kolisi said. 

“We talk on the field before the game what we wanna do in the game and when we attack and defend, we all have different roles and obviously you can see. Jassie carries the ball through contact, Pete too and the work that he does. 

“Mine is more the staff that nobody really sees which I really enjoy, so it's been really great not just playing so many games but learning one another and understanding what the other one is good at and accepting your role in that and what's best for the team. 

“I think that's what has made us work so well together as a group, so, it's been an honour. I've been grateful to play with both of them."

The 35-year-old, who could also become the Springbok captain with the most test match wins should the Boks beat the All Blacks, is currently level with former captain John Smit on 54 test wins. 

He refused to take credit for the record, instead insisting that it is a team achievement. 

"The amount of wins as captain, that's team staff, I can't be happy or be excited about that. As long as we win I'm happy because I always say team wins are a team achievement, it's not really my kind of achievement but it's a great thing for us as a group to show that we are building,” the captain added.
