SA Rugby sign new Nike partnership

SA Rugby have confirmed a new partnership agreement with sportswear giants Nike, which is set to see all male and female national teams don the famous Swoosh.

Nike will succeed current technical sponsors ASICS, who will see their deal with the South African Rugby Union come to an end on 31 December 2022, after the two parties agreed a six-year deal.

The Springboks, Women's Boks, the men™s and women™s sevens teams as well as the Junior Boks will all be kitted out in Nike playing and off-field apparel when on national duty.

œWe enjoyed a great relationship with ASICS and really appreciate the contribution that the company made over the past eight years, said CEO of SA Rugby Jurie Roux.

œIt™s always sad to see a valued partner depart but we understand that business strategies shift over time and we wish ASICS well in its continued journey in South Africa.

œWe™re delighted to welcome Nike on board. It is an iconic global brand, whose vision for their Springbok partnership impressed us from our first conversation.

œNike has big plans for the partnership and we™re looking forward to formally launching our new alliance next year."

SA Rugby previously wore Nike kit between 1996 and 2003, and will now re-unite for the upcoming 2023 Rugby World Cup taking place in France next year.

Fans will however have to wait to see or get a feel of the new apparel with a launch date yet to be confirmed, though confirmation is that stores will supply the public from July 2023.
