Griquas moved into the top four on the Currie Cup standings with a 42-27 bonus-point win over the Griffons in Kimberley on Sunday.

The Kimberley outfit got the match's first try in the sixth minute when Tertius Kruger burst through the Griffons defence after a nice flast ball to set him on his way. Eddie Fouche added the extras.

Griffons scrumhalf Jaywinn Juries cut Griquas' lead down to four points in the ninth minute but just a few moments later Griquas scrumhalf Johan Mulder profited from a quick-tap-and-go to burrow himself over the line as Fouche made it 14-3. Neil Otto then got the Tafel Lager outfit's fourth try after a series of powerful carries from the Griquas forwards.

The Griffons finally got themselves on the try column through Dandre Delport at the back of a strong driving maul as the Griquas went into half-time 21-8 up.

The Griquas got the bonus-point try through Rosko Specman where he showed his scintillating pace. Griquas number eight Kudzwai Dube was then sent to the sin-bin for spitting and the Griffons capitalised on their numerical advantage when Jean Pretorius bustled himself over after a great run.

The home side secured the bonus point seven minutes into the second half when Rosko Specman put Stephan Smit into space to score a great try. After Specman was sent to the sin-bin the hosts still got on tthe try column through George Whitehead, while HP van Schoor got the Griffons' third.
