Concern for Cheslin Kolbe as he's stretchered off the field

Springbok winger Cheslin Kolbe suffered what appeared to be a serious injury in Toulon's victory over Lyon in the French Top 14 on Saturday evening.

The diminutive playmaker danced his way outside his defender to score another sublime try for his French club, but fell awkwardly and was left in heap clutching his right ankle.

Kolbe couldn't put any weight on his foot and later broke down in tears, suggesting the severity of the injury. Medical staff carried the World Cup winner to a buggy which whisked him off into bowls of Stade Gerland.

With the 2023 Rugby World Cup being less than six months away, the Springbok staff will be hoping for good news come Monday.

However, the Springboks have unearthed talent on the wings in recent times, with hot-stepper Kurt Lee Arendse and rising star Canon Moodie showing promise, while Makazole Mapimpi is also in good form.
