Bordeaux confirm season-ending injury for South African star Janse van Rensburg

Bordeaux Begles have announced that Rohan Janse van Rensburg will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a serious injury.

The one-cap Springbok centre was introduced in the second half of Bordeaux's emphatic 64-14 victory over Leicester Tigers in their Investec Champions Cup round of 16 clash, but his appearance lasted only moments. He went down shortly after entering the field and had to be helped off, later leaving the venue on crutches.

The club confirmed the diagnosis in an official update, stating: "Rohan Janse van Rensburg's season has come to a premature end due to a ruptured achilles tendon sustained when he came on as a substitute against the Leicester Tigers last Sunday.

"Rohan will have participated in 19 matches during this 2025-26 season," the club added. "We wish him a speedy recovery and a successful rehabilitation!"

The setback adds to Bordeaux's injury concerns, with France international Nicolas Depoortere already sidelined with a shoulder problem.

Bordeaux now turn their attention to a high-profile Champions Cup quarter-final showdown against Toulouse on Sunday.
