Barbarians land in Cape Town with full squad confirmed for Springbok showdown

A star-studded Barbarians squad touched down in Cape Town earlier this week to begin preparations for Saturday's Qatar Airways Cup clash against the Springboks at DHL Stadium.

The 23-man squad - 18 of whom have Test experience - are coached by Robbie Deans and are gearing up for what will be the Barbarians' first-ever match against the Boks on South African soil.

Among the first names confirmed for the fixture were Irish centurions prop Cian Healy, flanker Peter O'Mahony and scrumhalf Conor Murray. They are joined by former All Black captain Sam Cane and fellow New Zealand loose forward Shannon Frizell.

Five more capped All Blacks are also in the squad: loose forward Hoskins Sotutu, scrumhalf Tawera Kerr-Barlow, utility back Peter Umaga-Jensen, and wings Leicester Fainga'anuku and Mark Tele'a.

The group is further strengthened by international caps from England's Joe Marchant, David Ribbans and Will Collier; France's Melvyn Jaminet, Camille Chat and Hassane Kolingar; Uruguay's Santiago Arata Perrone; and Samoa's Paul Alo-Emile.

Former Junior Springbok and Stormers lock Ruben van Heerden is the lone South African in the squad.

The Barbarians will announce their match-day team on Thursday at 12pm.

The match kicks off at Cape Town's DHL Stadium on Saturday at 17:10pm.
