Mabote matriculated in 2024 but took a gap after what he described to SABC Sport as a hard year having participated in the Paralympics in Paris and also finishing high school.
Speaking to the public broadcaster Mabote says he’s looking forward to keeping his consistency on the track while also working hard at school.
“I need to figure out how to balance university and sports. I’m studying at the University of Johannesburg. So obviously I need to get a routine, finding a rhythm to my everyday life is key to keeping myself as consistent as possible. Showing up to practice regardless of how I feel,” Mabote said.
The 20-year-old equaled the World Champs record with a time of 12.03 in the T63 men’s 100m event, he also competes in long jump.
He adds that his aim is to keep his world record going into the 2026 season.
“My goal is to be consistently over 7 metres in the Long Jump and keep my 100m T63 World Record,” he concluded.
