In an exclusive interview with SABC Sport, Mamelodi Sundowns co-head coach Rhulani Mokwena has explained the approach the club is taking in this seasons transfer window, indicating that they are only left with three more signings.
On the sidelines of Sundowns coaching clinic at their pre-season training base in Phokeng, Rustenburg, Mokwena said gone are the days where the Brazilians would go for wholesale buys on the transfer market.
So far, the Brazilians have confirmed the arrival of Bafana Bafana and SuperSport United midfielder Sipho Mbule and Ethiopian Abubaker Nasir.
Nasir trained for the first time on Thursday with Sundowns since he received his work permit which now makes him eligible to be registered for the 2022/2023 season.
Mokwena says the clubs has gone as far as enlisting the services of an English tutor to make sure that the 21year-old settles at the DSTV Premiership undisputed kings.

Sundowns, who are currently sitting with a squad of 40 players, including some of the players returning from loaning deals only targeted specific positions on the market according to Mokoena.
If you look at the last couple of transfer windows we dont sign for the sake of signing. In previous windows we worked when we felt we needed to strengthen certain positions and we did that.
If you look at the Brian Onyango acquisition where everybody said ooh but why Brian?, the Neo Maema signing and everybody was like ooh but why Neo?, but we knew what we needed it is the same now when we sign Surprise Ralani-we sign Surprise Ralani for a specific reason and everybody could see yah the age was as an issue but noone is talking anymore because the player has showed that the decision that we made to bring him here was the right decision.
So there is a lot of work that goes into analyzing our team checking the data of our team understanding the strength and the weaknesses and even the profile of the team that we want to try to develop.
And even now in this window we continue with that strategy we dont get anymore Sundowns signing seven-eight-nine players anymore in the window. We try to look at specific positions where feel that we need to try to take the team in that direction Rulani told SABC Sport.
