Having triumphed with a time of 49.05 seconds at the Athletics South Africa (ASA) Senior Track and Field Championships event in Pietermaritzburg, Gora now aims to clock 49.75 seconds, the required mark for booking his spot at the Paris Games scheduled for July/August.

At just 23 years old, Gora is not only focused on his pursuits but is also an integral part of Team South Africa’s contingent for the World Relay Championships in the Bahamas, scheduled for 4-5 May.

“Every day, standing shoulder to shoulder with my training partners, we spurred each other on to surpass our limits for quicker times. Clinching my first senior title brings me immense joy, a feat that wasn’t expected but achieved through hard work. Our path to this moment has been challenging, yet deeply meaningful. Our goal now shifts towards qualifying for the Olympic Games, relentlessly pursuing that elusive automatic qualification,” said Gora during an interview with SABC Sport.

Wayde Van Niekerk, Zakhithi Nene, Lythe Pillay, and Gora will carry the hopes of the national relay 4x400m team in the Bahamas.

“I eagerly anticipate all the upcoming competitions, particularly the relays, and will persistently strive to qualify for the Olympics until the deadline. My experience in the national senior championships has been invaluable, prompting me to elevate my performance as we approach an Olympic year,” Gora explained.
