The Boxer Running Club star has enjoyed an impressive campaign, finishing second in back-to-back Spar Women’s 10km Grand Prix races in Gqeberha and Johannesburg.
She won the 1500m African title in Ghana and represented South Africa at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in August.
Despite her success, the athlete coached by Caster and Violet Semenya is not in a hurry to move up to the longer distances, preferring to focus on the 10km, mile and 1500m for now.
“I am a versatile athlete, but for now I am sticking to the 10km, mile and 1500m. I am not ready for the 5000m and 10 000m distances yet.
“I am proud of the year that I have had, and my next race is the Boxer 5km Super Run. This has been my best year by far, and I pushed myself to the limit,” More told SABC Sport.
Reflecting on her performance in the final leg of the Spar Women’s 10km Grand Prix series in Johannesburg, More said taking risks and believing in herself helped her deliver a strong performance.
“I am proud of myself, and it’s all about taking risks. It’s also about having the right mentality and being strong enough to fight. I am happy that I was able to perform,” she said.
More will now turn her attention to the Boxer 5km Super Run in Durban next week, where she will be among the athletes chasing a podium finish in the lucrative race, which offers R20 000 to the winner.
She will also face her training partner and friend Xaba over the shorter distance as she looks to build on a memorable year and end her season on a high note.
